As the weekend approaches, DME Academy is gearing up to host an exhilarating lineup of sports events that promise excitement, skill, and fierce competition on their campus in Daytona Beach, Florida. From basketball showdowns to soccer showcases, DME is set to be the epicenter of sports action from Friday, January 12, to Monday, January 15.

The Grind Session Daytona: Elevating High School Basketball on a Global Stage

Kicking off the weekend on Friday, January 12, is The Grind Session Daytona, part of an international winter circuit showcasing elite high school basketball talent. Teams from across the nation and Canada, including powerhouses like DME Academy, Dream City Christian, Fort Erie International Academy, DME Wisconsin, and Utah Prep, will compete in a thrilling display of skill and highlight reel-worthy play. The women’s schedule features equally impressive teams, such as DME Academy, Bella Vista Prep, Elite Prep, and Academy of Central Florida.

The Grind Session’s choice to host one of their premier events at DME reflects the institution’s commitment to excellence. Matt Panaggio, Director of Men’s Basketball at DME, expressed his excitement, stating, “We are honored to be selected as a host site for The Grind Session. It is a testament to the world-class facilities, elite standard, and the competitive culture that defines DME Academy.”

DME MLK Classic: A Stage for Elite Post-Grad Men’s Basketball

Simultaneously, the DME MLK Classic will unfold from Saturday, January 13, to Monday, January 15, featuring a men’s basketball tournament that brings together formidable post-graduate teams. Teams in attendance include DME Academy, Academy of Central Florida, IMG Academy, Prestige, Dawg Sports Academy, Star Athlete, and The International Sports Academy. Battle at the Beach: A High Exposure Boys Soccer Showcase

Adding a different dimension to the weekend, Battle at the Beach takes place on Saturday, January 13, and Sunday, January 14. This boys’ soccer showcase, set against the backdrop of DME’s pristine turf soccer pitch, welcomes numerous college coaches to campus from esteemed institutions like Newberry College, Georgia Gwinnett College, the University of North Florida, Embry-Riddle, and more.

Teams including DME Academy, DME Sarasota, the Academy of Central Florida, and IdeaSport Soccer Academy will engage in intense competition, providing an intimate, high-exposure event for the U19 players. This showcase underscores DME Academy’s dedication to nurturing talent and providing a platform for players to shine. Our groups are split by age and skill level. 

This program is designed to teach and enhance fundamental basketball concepts and skills.

Michael Main is a former professional baseball  player and was drafted in the first round 24th overall pick by the Texas Rangers in the 2007 MLB draft. Michael played for the Texas Rangers, San Francisco Giants, and Miami Marlins organizations for 7 seasons. He played as both a Pitcher and an Outfielder. Michael was drafted out of Deland High School where he was an AFLAC All American and Florida’s Gatorade Player of the year. Michael also played on the 16u and 18u USA National teams.

Michael has instructed hundreds of players in the Central Florida area through lessons, travel teams and camps and has seen a number of his players earn college commitments and play collegiate baseball.

Halifax Health Benefits For The DME Family

Halifax Health will provide a medical advisory council consisting of 5 members. Physicians and community health managers will meet with DME leadership and advise on all health protocols and provide up to date and newly established injury research. Learn more about our medical advisory council here!

Halifax Health will provide a liaison for injured DME Academy students-athletes.

Halifax Health will provide fitness assessments on all incoming DME Academy student-athletes upon request as well as provide nutrition education once per season, per sport.

Halifax Health will provide annual Basic Life Saving Skills training for DME staff and coaches as well as make telemedicine services available to DME Academy student-athletes at usual and customary rates.

Halifax Health will provide medical personnel at select DME events.

The team entry fee is $500 and includes 3 games.

The registration deadline is November 22, 2022. Register your team here.

This event has a Stay-To-Play policy. If your team is located outside 75 miles of the event location, you will be required to stay at one of the tournament-approved hotels. Your team may be asked to provide proof of hotel registration prior to the event. If you do not book through DME/Pellucid Travel there will be an assessed fee for avoiding the process without approval.

GROUP VOLLEYBALL LESSONS

Our group lessons offer athletes the opportunity to work on specific skills in a group environment. Groups provide our top coaches with the ability to incorporate drills that reflect game-like situations. Group lessons can have three to ten participants for two hours of training. The cost of training can vary by coach from $30-$50 an hour. You may schedule your group lesson with Coach Dawn Moses at (440) 376-4514 or dawn.moses@dmesports.com

PRIVATE VOLLEYBALL LESSONS

At DME Sports, we offer private lessons to those individual that want to work on specific skills. Private lessons are offered on Friday and Sunday nights between the hours of 5-9pm.  Any coach can offer private lessons, however, you should reach out to them specifically to arrange.You may set up private training which is one on one training or semi-private training which is two on one training with a coach and an athlete(s). The cost of lessons varies by coach from $40-60 an hour.
