Wooster College Takes Home Championship Trophy At Panaggio Tournament For 2017

The Mauro Panaggio Tournament started at noon with Wooster College and St. Joseph’s tipping off to an exciting matchup.

Wooster’s College pulled away from St. Josephs, 65-57, with dominant guard play from Spencer Williams, who shot 66 percent from the free throw line, finishing with 22 points and 6 assists. Next game, Whittier College fell short to Brockport 92-108 with Brockport’s front line dominating the game. Four out of five starters scored double digits, with all of them having fifteen plus points.

Monday was filled with teams ready to play to make a statement. Consolation game consisted of St. Joseph’s and Whittier at noon. Whittier trailed St. Joseph’s most of the way but Whittier pulled away 84-79 in the late second half. Championship game, Wooster and Brockport went head to head at 2 pm. Wooster overpowered 81-67 Brockport with defense and great guard play. Wooster’s Spencer Williams had a tournament-high with 25 points.
