DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — July 16, 2026 — DME Academy is pleased to announce the addition of three experienced coaches and program leaders to its growing volleyball program: Melinda Lane, Edilberto “Nuni” Domínguez and Ezgi Basaranlar.
Together, the group brings decades of coaching, playing, leadership and athlete-development experience to DME Academy, further strengthening the Academy’s commitment to helping student-athletes develop their skills, compete at a high level and prepare for success in college and in life.
“We are intentionally assembling a staff of competitively driven, highly focused leaders who are prepared to guide our student-athletes through technical, tactical and position-specific training at the highest level,” said Seth Brown, President and CEO of DME Academy. “Just as important, this team understands that our responsibility extends beyond competition. We are developing confident, disciplined and resilient young people who are prepared to take the next step in college, in their sport and in life.”
Lane will serve as Director of Club Volleyball and Volleyball Operations, overseeing the program’s strategic direction, coaching standards, athlete development, recruiting support, tournaments, camps and overall operations. She brings more than 15 years of experience leading elite club programs, mentoring coaches and building competitive volleyball organizations.
A former NCAA Division II standout at Nova Southeastern University, Lane earned All-Sunshine State Conference Second Team and AVCA South Region Honorable Mention recognition while helping lead the Sharks to their first NCAA Tournament Elite-Eight appearance. She later pursued professional playing opportunities in Europe and has coached teams to an AAU National Championship and a berth in the USA Volleyball Girls Junior National Championship.
“What excites me most about the upcoming season is the opportunity to build something special at DME Academy,” Lane said. “There is tremendous energy surrounding the program, and you can feel the momentum as we continue to grow. I am looking forward to helping our student-athletes develop their skills, compete at a high level and build the confidence, character and discipline that will serve them long after their playing days are over. This is the beginning of an exciting new chapter for DME Volleyball, and I am honored to help lead it.”
Domínguez joins the program with more than 20 years of coaching experience across elite club and high school volleyball. A former collegiate player and Puerto Rico First Division semi-professional athlete, he has built a career around technical development, competitive preparation and creating cultures of accountability and high performance.
During his coaching career, Domínguez has guided teams to multiple USA Volleyball Girls Junior National Championship qualifications, three AAU Open Division bronze-medal finishes and four district championships at Apopka High School. He was named Florida Region USA Volleyball Outstanding Junior Coach in 2016 and earned Bob Demaree Coach of the Year honors in 2019 and 2021.
Basaranlar brings a distinctive combination of elite international playing experience, NCAA Division I leadership and specialized setter development. She was a five-year scholarship athlete, starting setter and team captain at the University of Delaware, where she demonstrated the leadership, discipline and resilience required to compete at the collegiate level.
Before arriving in the United States, Basaranlar competed for Eczacıbaşı Sports Club, one of Europe’s leading volleyball organizations. She served as a team captain across multiple age divisions, won multiple Turkish national championships and represented Turkey on the U16 National Team, helping the team complete an undefeated run to a Balkan Championship.
Basaranlar also brings experience in setter training, offensive systems, player evaluation, athlete mentorship and volleyball technology. Her international background and fluency in both English and Turkish further support DME Academy’s diverse community of student-athletes from around the world.
The expanded coaching team reflects DME Academy’s purpose-driven approach to student-athlete development. Through personalized instruction, elite competition, strong mentorship and clearly defined standards, DME Volleyball is designed to help athletes grow as players, teammates, students and leaders.
At DME Academy, winning the future means more than preparing for the next match. It means developing the skill, confidence, discipline and character student-athletes need to take the next step in their journey.
