Stacy Atkinson
STACY ATKINSON

Principal

She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Texas at Tyler, and holds Master’s Degrees in Educational Leadership and Exceptional Student Education from Southeastern University in Lakeland, FL. Her passion lies in fostering the growth and potential of others, a commitment that aligns perfectly with DME Academy’s mission.

DAVE SWEBILIUS

Director of Academic Services

He earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Florida and brings over 15 years of experience teaching Science, English, and Social Studies at all levels, including AP and IB. Now serving as advising coordinator, his passion for guiding students aligns perfectly with DME Academy’s mission.

Brandie Scheu

School Registrar

Brandie has over 10 years of experience in education and more than 6 years working in Behavior Therapy and Special Education. A proud Florida native and DME baseball mom, she is passionate about helping every student succeed. She specializes in tailoring support for students with special needs, fostering a positive, nurturing learning environment that encourages both academic growth and personal confidence.

April Kelley
April Kelley

Director of Compliance and Database Administration

April is an education administrator with over 20 years of experience in academic services and student support. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Supervision and Management with a specialization in Project Management. As Director of Compliance and Database Administration, she oversees accreditation, databases, and initiatives that support student success.

Dillon Simmons

High School Social Studies

Born in Jacksonville, Florida, Dillon earned his Bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Central Florida. A lifelong student of history and culture, he teaches United States History while also bringing experience in European, African, and Asian studies, as well as U.S. Government and Economics.

ALLISON DUFF

High School English

Allison earned her B.A. in English and Secondary Education and an M.Ed. in Exceptional Student Education from Stetson University. She also holds Reading and ESOL endorsements. A nineteen-year veteran educator, she is dedicated to fostering student learning through an inviting and respectful classroom environment.

Kellie Sprague

High School English

Kellie, from West Palm Beach, Florida, has over ten years of teaching experience in both private and public schools. She graduated from Florida State University with a degree in Communication and Advertising and a minor in Creative Writing. Passionate about fostering safe, inclusive classrooms, she helps students reach their full potential.

Allyson Bronkie

Middle School English and ELL

With over 20 years in education, Allyson is passionate about teaching, reading, and writing. She earned a B.A. in English and Communications from Hamline University and an M.Ed. in Administration and ESL from SMU. She specializes in language acquisition and literacy, helping students build confidence in communication and self-expression.

Dale Papineau

High School Science

Dale, a seasoned science educator at DME Academy, brings 32 years of teaching experience. He holds a B.S. in Chemistry with minors in Physics and Mathematics and an M.A. in Health, Physical Education, and Recreation from Adams State University. Certified in Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics, he has also taught AP Chemistry, Calculus, and Physics.

Diondre Larmond

High School Science

Coach D. Larmond brings over a decade of educational experience, starting in South Florida as a STEM and magnet program innovator. A Hall of Fame NCAA athlete from Bethune-Cookman University, he connects sports, education, and entrepreneurship through youth-focused initiatives, inspiring students with his empowering mantra: “Who got the POWER? I have the POWER!”

ELISABET CALDERON

High School Spanish

Elisabet earned her B.A. in Education from the University of Puerto Rico. A Puerto Rican native, Elisabet has worked in the Daytona Beach area as a teacher for 15+ years. She loves teaching and helping her students achieve their dreams and goals.

Michael Conrad

Teacher

Mike earned his B.S. from West Point in 1980 and served as an Army officer until 1988. He then built a 30-year career as an illustrator, designer, writer, and art director for major theme parks and entertainment companies in Orlando and beyond.

Jarvis Jenkins

Student Intervention and Electives

Jarvis Gunter, DME Head Post Grad Basketball Coach & Student Intervention/Electives. MBA in Sports Management, BS in Accounting, with certificates from Michigan State & NBA G League. Former NCAA D1 Asst. Coach (Arkansas–Pine Bluff, 2013–19) and Head Coach at YSBA Academy in China (2019).

Mariah Zirkelbach

Teacher

Mariah earned her B.A. in Elementary Education from Flagler College. She discovered her passion for exceptional student education through Ormond Beach’s recreation programs and has taught in Florida and New Hampshire. Mariah is committed to building capability, connection, and community at DME.

Terry Ann Oliver

Teacher

Terry Ann grew up in Northern Virginia and moved to Ormond Beach after high school. She holds a B.S. in Psychology and Criminal Justice and a Florida Real Estate License. Teaching allows her to share knowledge while spending more time with her son.

James Clements

Teacher

Jim earned his Chemistry degree from Indiana University and a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. He served in the Air Force and taught science in Volusia County for many years. Jim is National Board-certified and passionate about helping student-athletes succeed in school and life.
